1 About These Terms
Who we are and what these terms cover

Jirani Hub is a community marketplace operated from our physical shop off Kikuyu Road, Near Kirigu Police Station, Mutuini-Kirigu, Dagoretti South, Nairobi, Kenya. We connect local farmers, artisans and small traders ("Sellers") with buyers in the surrounding community ("Buyers").

By accessing our website at jiranihubmarket.co.ke, using our mobile interface, placing an order, registering as a seller, or visiting our physical shop counter, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.

These Terms apply to all users of the Jirani Hub platform including Buyers, Sellers, and anyone who visits our website. They should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Returns & Disputes Policy.

"Buyer"Any individual who browses, reserves, or purchases products through Jirani Hub.
"Seller"An individual or small business approved to list and sell products through Jirani Hub.
"Hub" / "we"Jirani Hub, its operators, staff, and admin team.
"Order"A confirmed purchase transaction, whether walk-in, online, or reservation-based.

2 Use of the Platform
Your account and acceptable use

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and place orders on Jirani Hub. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

When you register, you agree to provide accurate and complete information including your full name, a valid phone number, and a working email address. We use these details to process your orders, send notifications, and communicate with you about your account.

You agree not to use the platform for any unlawful purpose, to misrepresent the quality or nature of products (Sellers), to attempt to circumvent our pricing or payment systems, or to engage in any conduct that could harm other users or the Jirani Hub community.

Account suspension
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or harms the community — without prior notice in serious cases.

3 Buyer Obligations
What we expect from Buyers

As a Buyer on Jirani Hub, you agree to the following:

  • You will only place orders for products you genuinely intend to purchase. Repeated reservation abandonment or ticket no-shows may result in your account being flagged.
  • You will provide an accurate phone number and delivery address where applicable. We are not responsible for failed deliveries caused by incorrect contact details.
  • You will pay the confirmed order total including any delivery fee and carrier bag charges. Deposits are collected at the time of reservation; the balance is due at collection or at the door on delivery.
  • You will collect reserved orders within the reservation window (3 days from the reservation date). Uncollected orders after this period are forfeited and deposits are not refunded.
  • You will be present (or reachable) at the delivery address at the confirmed delivery slot time. If you are not home and the rider cannot complete delivery, the order is considered a failed delivery and the deposit is not refunded.
  • You will report any issues with your order within 24 hours of receipt. See our Returns & Disputes Policy for the full process.

4 Seller Obligations
What we expect from Sellers

To sell on Jirani Hub, you must be approved through our application process. Approval is at our sole discretion. Once approved, you receive a permanent Seller Badge (e.g. SLR-XXXX) which is your unique identifier on the platform. This badge cannot be transferred.

As a Seller, you agree to the following:

  • You will only submit applications for products you actually have or can reliably supply. Misrepresentation of product availability, quality, or origin is grounds for immediate suspension.
  • You will physically deliver stock to our shop counter when notified that your application has been approved and stock is required. Products will only go Live after physical stock confirmation.
  • Your products must accurately match their listing descriptions. Size, variety, condition, and quantity must be as described.
  • You will not attempt to sell prohibited items including expired food, counterfeit goods, stolen property, controlled substances, or anything that is unlawful to sell under Kenyan law.
  • You understand and accept our pricing model as described in Section 5. You will receive your full asking price less any agreed charges; Buyers pay a platform fee on top.
  • Payouts are processed after order completion, subject to the payout schedule maintained by the Hub admin.
  • You accept that repeat valid complaints from Buyers about your products may result in your products being unlisted and your account being reviewed or suspended.
Walk-in sellers
Walk-in sellers who have not registered online may still deliver stock through the Hub counter. However, to appear in the online marketplace and receive payouts, a registered account and approved application are required.

5 Pricing & the Platform Fee
How prices work on Jirani Hub

Jirani Hub operates on a transparent pricing model. Sellers set their own asking price. Buyers pay a 15% platform fee added on top of that asking price. The seller receives their full asking price; Jirani Hub retains the platform fee to cover operations, staff, delivery infrastructure, and platform costs.

The formula
Buyer Price = Asking × 1.15
Example — Fresh Eggs
Seller's asking priceKSh 350.00
Platform fee (15%)KSh 52.50
Buyer paysKSh 402.50
Seller receivesKSh 350.00

Prices shown on all product listings are the final Buyer Price inclusive of the platform fee. The Buyer Price is always calculated server-side and cannot be modified by any party. Delivery fees and carrier bag charges are added separately at checkout and do not affect the platform fee calculation.

Jirani Hub reserves the right to adjust the platform fee percentage with reasonable notice to active Sellers. Any such change will be communicated via WhatsApp to all registered Sellers and will not affect existing confirmed orders.

6 Reservations & Deposits
How deposits and reservations work

Buyers may reserve products by paying a 40% deposit of the total order value (products + applicable bag charges + delivery fee where applicable). This deposit holds the stock for the Buyer and triggers packing or dispatch.

The remaining balance (60%) is due at the time of collection at our shop counter, or at the door upon delivery. The exact balance due is shown on the order ticket and the online account — there are no hidden charges.

Reservations expire 3 days from the date of reservation if not collected or delivered. After expiry, the product is released back to general availability and the deposit is forfeited. We will attempt to notify you via WhatsApp before your reservation expires.

Deposits are non-refundable on expiry
If you allow a reservation to expire or cancel after stock has been confirmed, your 40% deposit is not refunded. Please see our Returns & Disputes Policy for the full table of refund scenarios.

7 Payments
How we handle payments

Jirani Hub accepts payments via M-Pesa and cash. We do not accept card payments at this time.

  • M-Pesa: Online payments are processed by providing your M-Pesa transaction reference to our team via the platform or WhatsApp. Payments are verified manually. The M-Pesa mobile number used for payment is stored with your order record for verification and refund purposes.
  • Cash: Cash payments are accepted at our physical shop counter only. Change is calculated automatically by our counter system.
  • Deposits: The 40% deposit must be paid at the time of reservation to confirm the hold. Unpaid reservations are not held.

All payment records including M-Pesa reference numbers, amounts, and timestamps are stored securely in our system. In the event of a payment dispute, your M-Pesa reference number is required for resolution. Every M-Pesa transaction is traceable — no genuine payment is ever lost.

Safaricom M-Pesa
M-Pesa is a registered trademark of Safaricom PLC. Jirani Hub is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting as an agent of Safaricom. We use M-Pesa as a payment channel only.

8 Delivery
Our delivery service and your responsibilities

Jirani Hub offers motorbike delivery to selected zones and landmarks in the Mutuini-Kirigu area and surrounding Dagoretti South localities. Delivery is available Monday–Saturday during active delivery slots. See our Deliveries page for current zones, landmarks, and slot times.

  • A minimum order of KSh 500 (product value only, excluding bags and delivery fee) is required for delivery.
  • The delivery fee is set at the landmark level and is confirmed at checkout. A snapshot of the fee is stored on your order — you will not be charged more than the amount shown at checkout.
  • Your 40% deposit covers a proportional share of the products, bag charges, and delivery fee. The balance is collected by the rider at the door, payable by M-Pesa or cash.
  • You are responsible for being present or reachable at the delivery address during the confirmed slot. If the rider cannot reach you after reasonable attempts, the delivery is marked as failed and the deposit is not refunded.
  • We are not liable for delays caused by road conditions, weather, civil unrest, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

9 Prohibited Products
What cannot be sold on Jirani Hub

The following categories of products are strictly prohibited on the Jirani Hub platform. Any Seller found listing or attempting to sell such items will have their account permanently suspended and the matter may be reported to relevant authorities:

Jirani Hub reserves the right to remove any product listing at any time, with or without explanation, if we determine it is inappropriate, misleading, or harmful to the community.

When you submit a seller application including product photos, you grant Jirani Hub a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use those images for the purposes of listing and promoting your products on the platform. You confirm you own or have the right to use any photos you submit.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or use Jirani Hub's branding, content, or platform code without our express written permission.

12 Limitation of Liability
Our limits of responsibility

Jirani Hub facilitates transactions between Buyers and Sellers. While we take reasonable steps to verify product quality and maintain platform integrity, we cannot guarantee the conduct of every Seller or the condition of every product at the point of delivery.

To the fullest extent permitted by Kenyan law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from the use of our platform.
  • Our total liability to any user in connection with any dispute shall not exceed the value of the specific order in question.
  • We are not liable for platform downtime, technical errors, or delays caused by third-party services including Safaricom M-Pesa or Google services.
  • We are not liable for any loss caused by your failure to keep your account credentials secure.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Kenyan law.

13 Account Termination
Ending your account

You may close your Jirani Hub account at any time by contacting us via WhatsApp at +254 742 744 502. Upon account closure, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice if:

  • You have materially breached these Terms
  • We have reasonable grounds to believe your account is involved in fraudulent activity
  • A Seller's products have generated repeated valid complaints or safety concerns
  • Continued access poses a risk to other users or the platform

Upon termination, any outstanding orders will be processed or refunded at our discretion. Pending seller payouts for completed orders will still be processed through our normal payout schedule.

14 Changes to These Terms
How we update these Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practical, notify active users via WhatsApp.

Continued use of the Jirani Hub platform after the date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

Minor changes such as corrections of typographical errors or clarifications of existing clauses do not constitute material changes and may be made without specific notice.
